CIWM/Cylch Joint Event: Waste Minimisation and Reuse - May 19th 2011, Wrexham.
The event looked at different ways of achieving and implementing waste prevention and reuse as stated in the Towards Zero Waste Strategy. Providing an insight into the strategic context and legislation around waste minimisation the programme addressed:
A range of presentations and case studies were presented outlining the latest thinking and development and provided practical information and inspiration for those interested in developing and implementing waste minimisation/reuse programmes.
The revised waste hierarchy demands thinking about materials before they become waste as well as retaining the usefulness of discarded products that can be returned to use - electricals, furniture and clothing are obvious examples and the event showed how partnerships with private companies can work for the benefit of local communities as well as achieving challenging waste targets.
